biography

Composer, singer and producer MORLEY from New York City breathes sensuality into activism with her worldly lyrical stance. Her warm and soulful voice is often compared to India Arie, Annie Lennox, Roberta Flack and Joni Mitchell. A former dancer and yoga instructor in New York City’s public school system, shelters and community centers, Morley grew up absorbing the sights and sounds of the multi-ethnic community of Jamaica Queens where she attended the United Nations School, an experience which clearly informs her world view and charismatic stage presence.

Morley has written, collaborated and toured with renowned artists such as Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon, Toshi Reagon, Joan Wasser, Dave Matthews, Raul Midon, Amadou & Miriam, Sheryl Crow, Queen Latifah, Angelique Kidjo, Sarah McLachlan, Larry Campbelle,Yuri Buenaventura and Richard Bona, to name a few. Her songs have been placed on television and she is currently the voice for the Ralph Lauren’s fragrance commercial “My Romance”.
The New York Times picked Morley as emerging artist of the year.

Morley considers social and global activism an integral element of her music. She has had the distinct honor to perform for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela in Cape Town South Africa, The United Nations 60th Anniversary, The Inauguration of Catherine Henderson for Auburn (where Morley worked as conflict resolution counselor for Face to Face/Faith to Faith) and in Auschwitz for Bernie Glassman’s Bearing Witness retreat.

“Morley embodies modern-day NY femininity in all its multicultural finesse.”
